2. Hosting and server log files
This website is operated on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, located in a data center in Nuremberg, Germany. The server is administered by the controller himself. Hetzner provides the infrastructure. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR exists with Hetzner.
When you visit this website, the web server automatically records so-called server log files. These include: the IP address of the requesting device, date and time of the request, the requested URL, the HTTP status code, the amount of data transferred, the referrer URL, and the browser identification (user agent). This data is processed to deliver the website reliably, to detect and defend against attacks and misuse, and to analyze technical faults. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website). Log files are deleted or anonymized after a short period unless a specific incident requires longer retention as evidence.
3. TLS encryption
This site uses TLS encryption (HTTPS) for all connections. Data you transmit to this site cannot be read by third parties in transit.
4. Cookies
This website does not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. Only technically necessary cookies may be set, for example when you log in (administration) or when you submit a comment and ask the site to remember your details. Technically necessary cookies do not require consent pursuant to § 25 (2) TDDDG. No consent banner is therefore displayed.
5. Comments
If you leave a comment, the comment text, the name and email address you provide, your IP address and the time of submission are stored. The IP address is stored on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) in being able to defend against unlawful comments (e.g. insults, prohibited content), for which the operator can be held liable. Comments and their metadata remain stored until the commented article is deleted or you request deletion of your comment.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating the site free of automated spam). The transfer of data to the USA is based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR. Further information: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Wordfence protects the website against attacks, malware and unauthorized login attempts. For this purpose, the IP addresses of visitors, request characteristics and, where applicable, login data are processed and compared against Defiant’s threat databases, which may involve transferring IP addresses to servers in the USA. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protecting the website against attacks and abuse). The transfer of data to the USA is based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR.
